GET INVOLVED

Worthington Kilbourne Theatre Boosters

The Worthington Kilbourne Theatre Boosters is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and enriching the WKHS Theatre program. The Boosters help provide opportunities and resources that enhance the theatre experience for students throughout the school year.

The Theatre Boosters support enrichment activities, helping students attend the State Thespian Conference, providing meals and snacks during Tech Week, fulfilling special requests from the Theatre Director, assisting with theatre events, and supporting other needs of the program.

Getting involved with the Boosters is a great way to meet other theatre families, stay connected to the program, and help create memorable experiences for our students. You do not need theatre experience, a perfect singing voice, or unlimited free time. Bring whatever talents and time you have—and be prepared for the occasional spontaneous musical number during a meeting.

FAQs

How can I get involved?

Come to a Theatre Booster meeting or volunteer during one of the productions. Parents help with Tech Week meals, concessions, tickets, special events, and other needs that come up throughout the year.

You do not need theatre experience, and you do not have to make a major time commitment.

One of the best ways to connect is through our Theatre Parents GroupMe. We also have a Facebook Page.

Do I have to be an officer to come to Theatre Booster Meetings?

Theatre Booster meetings are for anyone who wants to learn more about what is going on with the theatre program, how to help out, or has a deep desire to belt out a random show tune with other grown up theatre kids. 🎶

We like to say that we have one of the most fun meetings in all of Worthington Schools! You have to see at least once in your life, it's worth it.

Check out the events calendar to find out when the next meeting is taking place.

How will I know when help is needed?

Watch for emails from Mr. Robey, the WKHS Theatre Director, especially in the weeks leading up to a production. His emails include show information, schedules, volunteer requests, and other updates for theatre families. If the school year has started and you aren't receiving emails from Mr. Robey, let us know.

Why should I volunteer during productions?

As our kids become teenagers, it is not always easy to find natural ways to stay connected to what they are doing. Volunteering with a production gives you the chance to be nearby without hovering.

You get to see what your student and their friends are working on, meet other theatre parents, and become part of the community that supports the shows. It is one of the best ways to experience theatre alongside your student, even when they are the one onstage or working behind the scenes.

Is there a theatre calendar?

Yes. Families can view or subscribe to the WKHS Theatre Google Calendar for production dates, rehearsals, meetings, events, and other important information. Note that show dates are blocked for the entire weekend until the event gets closer. Some shows are Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Others are on Friday and Saturday.

Are there theatre dues?

Yes. Theatre dues are $100 per student each school year.

You may pay the full amount by August 31, or split it into two payments:

$50 by August 31
$50 by January 31

Can I make an additional donation?

Yes. Families and community members who would like to provide additional support may make a donation to the WKHS Theatre Boosters.

Donations help the Boosters respond to special requests, support student activities, and provide extras that are not covered by theatre dues.
