The Big Picture

Kicking off the 35th season of WKHS Theatre, The Big Picture marked a milestone as a collection of student-directed one-act plays and the first production in WKHS Theatre history performed outdoors. Staged in a tent on school grounds while construction transformed the Black Box Theatre, the production explored ambition, perception, and the stories we tell ourselves to understand success and failure.

Performed at Kilbourne Middle School due to construction delays, this imaginative and emotionally resonant production wove together music, movement, and storytelling. Centered on connection and the invisible threads that tied people together, the show invited audiences to reflect on relationships, identity, and the power of unity.
Chicago: School Edition
March 20-21, 2026
The first production performed in the newly renovated WKHS Theatre, Chicago: School Edition marked an exciting new chapter for the program. This high-energy musical was packed with show-stopping numbers, sharp wit, and dazzling choreography. Set in the world of fame and fortune, it followed two rival performers competing for the spotlight, delivering a satirical look at celebrity culture and the pursuit of notoriety. The production's orchestra was recognized with a nomination for a Marquee Award, highlighting the exceptional musicianship that brought the score to life.
Radium Girls

The first production performed in the newly renovated Black Box Theatre, Radium Girls told the powerful true story of young factory workers in the 1920s who began to fall mysteriously ill after painting watch dials with radium. As one worker challenged the powerful company responsible, the play followed her fight for truth, justice, and accountability in the face of overwhelming opposition
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

Closing the 35th season of WKHS Theatre, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe brought C.S. Lewis's beloved fantasy to life. The production followed the Pevensie siblings as they journeyed through a magical wardrobe into the land of Narnia, where they joined the noble lion Aslan in a battle against the White Witch. Filled with adventure, courage, and timeless themes of sacrifice and hope, the play transported audiences to an unforgettable world of imagination.
